Twilight Sedation or Sleep Denistry
Twilight sedation, also known as ‘conscious sedation’, is an anesthetic technique where mild dose of a sedative is used to help patients stay calm and comfortable during a surgical procedure.
Twilight Sedation Dentistry (Sleep Dentistry)
Many patients seem reluctant to visit a dentist due to dental phobias. The anxiety they experience even at the thought of going to a dentist stops them from seeking any kind of dental treatment. We offer twilight sedation (sleep sedation) for such patients to alleviate their fears and any discomfort associated with the procedure, thus making their visit to our practice a pleasant one.
Sleep dentistry is based on the combination of sedating and pain-relieving drugs. Twilight sedation alone cannot provide relief from the pain associated with the procedure. A local anesthetic is always given to the area being operated.
How does it feel?
You will be very calm and relaxed during the procedure. You will be conscious and awake, but a bit drowsy. You may feel as if you just woke up from a very relaxing sleep, hence referred to as ‘twilight sleep’. It will make you forget the procedure completely, or you will remember a very little part of what happened during the procedure.
